One of my favorite weekend trips was visiting Taman Safari Bogor with a close friend who came from Turkey, along with his wife and children. Since they were traveling as a family, they wanted to take the kids somewhere fun, educational, and surrounded by nature. Taman Safari turned out to be the perfect destination, and after spending a day there, I completely understood why they chose it.

Before entering the safari area, we stopped at one of the stalls outside the park to buy carrots and watermelon. Many visitors do this because these can be used to feed some of the herbivorous animals during the Safari Journey. The children were already excited before we even started the adventure.
Once inside, we drove our own car through the Safari Journey, where the animals roam freely in spacious open habitats. It felt completely different from visiting a traditional zoo. Instead of seeing animals behind fences, they walked right up to our car, making the experience feel much more personal and exciting.

The zebras were among the first animals to approach us, followed by deer and several species of antelope. We happily fed them the carrots and watermelon we had prepared earlier. One of the most memorable moments was seeing the magnificent eland, the largest species of antelope in the world, standing just a few steps away from our car. I was lucky enough to capture this beautiful animal in the photo above.
As we continued our journey, we also saw hippopotamuses relaxing in the water, elephants, bison, ostriches, and many other incredible animals from different parts of the world. Every section of the safari offered a new surprise, making the drive exciting from beginning to end.

After completing the Safari Journey, we explored other attractions inside the park and took a walk to Curug Jaksa, a small waterfall located within Taman Safari. Surrounded by lush greenery and fresh mountain air, it was the perfect place to relax after an exciting day of wildlife encounters.
What impressed me the most was how family-friendly Taman Safari Bogor is. The park offers educational animal shows, interactive attractions, playgrounds, and plenty of activities designed especially for children. It is more than just a safari park—it is a place where families can spend quality time together while learning about wildlife and conservation.

Watching my friend’s children laugh with excitement every time an animal came close to our car made the trip even more meaningful. It wasn’t just about seeing amazing animals—it was about creating unforgettable memories together with good friends who had traveled all the way from Turkey to experience Indonesia.
If you’re planning a family getaway near Jakarta, Taman Safari Bogor is definitely a destination I would highly recommend. It’s an adventure that both children and adults will enjoy, and one that leaves you with memories to cherish long after the trip is over.
