This afternoon, I decided to spend some time at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII) and watch a Reog performance. I arrived about 10 minutes late, but luckily, the show was still going on, so I still got to enjoy the Reog performance.

And honestly, it was worth it!

As soon as I arrived at the Amphitheater of the Cultural Stage, I was immediately drawn into the atmosphere. The performance featured the iconic Reog masks, traditional dancers, live music, and energetic movements that made the stage feel very lively.

More Than Just a Cultural Performance

What made the show even more enjoyable was the combination of traditional art, comedy, and audience interaction.

The performers did not simply stay on stage. They interacted with the audience and added funny moments throughout the performance, making the atmosphere feel relaxed and entertaining. There were several moments that made the audience laugh and feel more involved in the show.

I really enjoyed seeing how a traditional performance like Reog can be presented in a way that feels engaging, entertaining, and accessible to today’s audience.

Reog with a Beautiful Sunset View

Another thing that made the afternoon special was the sunset at TMII.

As the performance continued, the daylight slowly faded, creating a beautiful evening atmosphere around the amphitheater. Behind the performers, the lake and landscape of TMII added an extra layer of beauty to the scene.

Watching Reog while the sky was changing colors made the experience feel even more memorable—a combination of traditional Indonesian culture, music, performance, and a beautiful Jakarta sunset.

A Simple but Memorable Afternoon

Even though I arrived 10 minutes late, I was still glad I came. I got to watch Reog, enjoy the comedy, see the performers interact with the audience, and end the afternoon with a beautiful sunset at TMII.

Sometimes, you don’t need a complicated plan to have a good afternoon.

10 minutes late, but still got the Reog and the sunset. Not bad for a Sunday afternoon. ✨
