Last week, my friend and I went to Epicentrum XXI to watch The Odyssey, one of the most anticipated films of the year, directed by Christopher Nolan.
Before watching, I was a little hesitant because the movie runs for 2 hours and 52 minutes. I thought it might feel too long, but surprisingly, the story kept me engaged from beginning to end. The combination of breathtaking visuals, emotional storytelling, and intense action made the nearly three-hour runtime feel completely worthwhile.
The film follows Odysseus, the legendary King of Ithaca, on his long and dangerous journey home after the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters mythical creatures, powerful gods, and countless challenges that test his courage, resilience, and determination.
One of the most memorable parts of the film, in my opinion, was not only Odysseus’ incredible journey but also the story of Penelope, his loyal wife. She patiently waited for his return for nearly 20 years, never giving up hope despite constant pressure from numerous suitors who believed Odysseus would never come home. Her unwavering faith, patience, and loyalty added a deeply emotional layer to the story and reminded me that true love is built on trust, perseverance, and hope.

What impressed me the most was the cinematography. Watching it on the big screen made every scene feel incredibly immersive. The soundtrack added emotional depth to every moment, while the outstanding performances from the cast brought Homer’s timeless epic to life in a spectacular way.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, The Odyssey has received widespread praise from both critics and audiences, with many highlighting Christopher Nolan’s ambitious direction, stunning visuals, and epic scale.

I can understand why so many people are recommending this movie. Although some scenes move at a slower pace to develop the characters and the story, they make the ending even more rewarding. Personally, I never felt bored during the entire 2 hours and 52 minutes.
Overall, I really enjoyed watching The Odyssey at Epicentrum XXI. It’s more than just an epic adventure—it is also a story about courage, sacrifice, patience, and enduring love. If you’re a fan of mythology, historical epics, and visually stunning films, The Odyssey is definitely worth watching on the big screen.
