“Success is not only measured by what we achieve, but also by the meaningful connections we build along the way.”

Jakarta Entrepreneur Club (JAKEC)

In the midst of a busy schedule, it’s always refreshing to pause and spend time with people who share similar values and aspirations. Last night, I had the pleasure of attending an invitation from a friend who is part of an entrepreneurs’ community. It turned out to be much more than just a gathering—it was an evening filled with gratitude, meaningful conversations, and great food.

The evening began with a collective prayer, creating a peaceful and heartfelt atmosphere. It was a wonderful reminder that while hard work and perseverance are essential in business, faith, gratitude, and sincere intentions remain the foundation of every meaningful journey.

After the prayer session, we continued with an inspiring sharing discussion. Members of the community exchanged stories about their entrepreneurial journeys—the challenges they had faced, the lessons they had learned, and the milestones they had achieved. Listening to different perspectives from people in various industries was both motivating and insightful. It reinforced the importance of resilience, continuous learning, and building genuine relationships.

The highlight of the evening was sharing a traditional Indonesian meal together: Nasi Liwet from Dapur Mas Mono. The meal was beautifully served on large banana leaves, creating an authentic communal dining experience that brought everyone closer together.

The spread was simply delicious. It featured fragrant nasi liwet accompanied by crispy salted fish, flavorful jengkol, fried tofu and tempeh, fresh sambal, crisp vegetables, boiled pumpkin, fresh cucumber slices, green round eggplants traditionally enjoyed as lalap (raw vegetables), and a comforting bowl of sayur asem, Indonesia’s signature sweet and sour vegetable soup. The combination of savory, spicy, and refreshing flavors made every bite memorable.

What made the dinner truly special wasn’t just the food—it was the atmosphere. Sitting together around the banana leaves, enjoying a simple meal while exchanging stories and laughter, reminded me that genuine connections are often built during moments like these rather than in formal meetings.

Communities like this are invaluable. They provide a space not only for expanding professional networks but also for encouraging one another, sharing experiences, and growing together as entrepreneurs and individuals.

I am grateful to my friend for the invitation and to everyone who shared their stories and positive energy throughout the evening. I look forward to attending more gatherings like this, where inspiration, friendship, and authentic Indonesian hospitality come together.
