Because at this point in my life, I don’t just want beautiful memories. I want financial freedom, a home of my own, the ability to explore the world, and the opportunity to make a difference in other people’s lives.

This morning, I woke up with a heavy heart.

There were things on my mind, feelings I couldn’t quite explain, and expectations that hadn’t turned out the way I had hoped.

Sometimes, life is funny. You can go to bed thinking about someone and wake up questioning what you really want from life.

And somewhere between feeling sad, overthinking, and trying to make sense of my emotions, I suddenly realized something.

I need money. A lot of money.

Haha!

Not because I want to live an extravagant lifestyle or impress anyone.

I simply want to build a life where I feel secure, independent, and free to do the things I love.

So, dear Universe, let me be very specific.

I need one billion US dollars.

Yes, USD 1,000,000,000.

I know. That’s an enormous amount of money. But hey, if we’re going to dream, why not dream big?

And believe me, I already have a few ideas about what I would do with it.

First, I Want a Place to Call My Own

One of my biggest dreams is to have my own house.

Not necessarily a huge mansion with a swimming pool and ten bedrooms. Just a beautiful, comfortable home where I can feel peaceful.

A place where I can wake up in the morning, make myself a cup of coffee, open the windows, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being home.

I imagine having a cozy living room, a lovely kitchen, bookshelves filled with books I’ve collected over the years, and perhaps a little corner where I can sit and write my stories.

Most importantly, I want the security of knowing that I have a place that truly belongs to me.

Because as much as I love traveling, I also love the idea of having somewhere to return to.

A home isn’t just a building. It’s a feeling of stability, comfort, and belonging.

Second, I Want Money in the Bank

Let’s talk about something that might not sound particularly romantic.

A fixed-term deposit!

Or, as we call it in Indonesia, a deposito.

Yes, I want to have money safely set aside in the bank, earning interest and providing a sense of financial security.

I want savings that I don’t have to touch for everyday expenses.

I don’t want to spend my entire life worrying about unexpected bills or whether I’ll have enough money for the future.

I want to make decisions because I genuinely want to, not because financial pressure leaves me with no other choice.

For me, having money in the bank isn’t about showing off wealth.

It’s about having options.

And honestly, there’s something incredibly comforting about knowing you have a financial cushion.

Third, I Want to Travel the World

Of course, we cannot forget traveling!

If you’ve read my previous stories on Life Through Analisa, you probably already know how much I love exploring new places.

Traveling makes me feel alive.

I love discovering unfamiliar cities, meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and collecting memories that stay with me long after a journey ends.

I want to return to New York, experience those beautiful autumn days again, and explore more of the United States.

I want to travel across Europe, wandering through charming streets, admiring historical architecture, visiting museums, and spending afternoons in little cafés.

And Africa? Absolutely!

I dream of exploring the incredible diversity of the African continent, experiencing its cultures, discovering its breathtaking landscapes, and perhaps going on a safari to see wildlife in its natural habitat.

I want to see more of Asia, too, and discover destinations I’ve only read about or seen in photographs.

There are so many places in this world that I haven’t visited yet.

And honestly, one lifetime doesn’t seem long enough to see them all.

Wherever I go, I want to bring those experiences back to this blog.

Because traveling isn’t simply about taking pictures or collecting passport stamps.

It’s about discovering the world and, sometimes, discovering a little more about myself.

Fourth, I Want to Build a Traditional Javanese Art Studio for My Family and Community

Another dream that is especially close to my heart is to build a traditional Javanese art studio, or what we call a sanggar seni in Indonesia.

This dream comes from something very personal: my family and the community where I grew up.

Back in my hometown, we have a local arts community, or paguyuban seni, dedicated to preserving traditional Javanese performing arts, particularly karawitan and jathilan.

And the beautiful thing is that my own family is part of this tradition.

My father plays the gamelan, a traditional Javanese musical ensemble. Some of my younger family members, including my sibling and nieces or nephews, are also involved in traditional performances. Some sing as sinden, traditional Javanese vocalists who accompany gamelan music, while others perform traditional dances.

So, you could say that art is very much a part of our family.

And I think that’s something truly special.

Whenever I think about it, I feel proud that these traditions are still alive in my family and our village.

But there’s something I’ve always wished for.

I want our arts community to have a place of its own.

A proper space where everyone can gather, practice, perform, and continue passing down these beautiful traditions to future generations.

I imagine a traditional Javanese arts studio with enough room for gamelan instruments, rehearsals, dance practice, and community activities.

A place where my father can comfortably play the gamelan with fellow musicians.

Where the sinden can practice their singing.

Where dancers can rehearse their movements.

And where children from the neighborhood can come and learn about the traditional arts that have been part of our cultural heritage for generations.

I want it to be more than just a building.

I want it to become a home for our paguyuban.

A place where artists of different generations can come together, share their knowledge, exchange ideas, and keep our traditions alive.

Perhaps one day, we could organize regular performances, cultural workshops, and traditional arts classes for children and young people in the village.

And who knows? Maybe visitors from other places could come to learn about our culture and experience the beauty of Javanese performing arts.

I would love that.

Because I believe traditional arts should not exist only in museums, history books, or memories of the past.

They deserve to remain alive, practiced, celebrated, and passed on.

And if one day I have enough money to make this dream come true, I would be incredibly happy to see my father, my family, and the entire arts community finally have a place they can proudly call their own.

A place where the sound of gamelan continues to echo, where traditional songs are sung, where dancers move to the rhythm of our heritage, and where younger generations learn to appreciate the culture they come from.

Maybe to some people, building a traditional arts studio doesn’t sound like a particularly glamorous dream.

But to me, it means something much greater.

It’s about family.

It’s about community.

It’s about preserving our cultural identity.

And it’s about making sure that the beautiful traditions we inherited will continue to live on.

Because some of the most meaningful things we can build with money aren’t things we own for ourselves, but places that bring people together and preserve something valuable for generations to come.

Fifth, I Want to Help People Who Need It

And there’s one more thing I would love to do if I ever had that much money.

I want to help others.

Not because I want recognition, praise, or to be seen as a generous person.

But simply because I know that life isn’t always easy, and sometimes even a little help can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life.

I want to be able to support people who are struggling financially, help children access education, and offer assistance to families facing difficult circumstances.

Perhaps I could provide scholarships for students who have the motivation to study but lack the financial resources.

Perhaps I could help someone start a small business, support a family during a difficult time, or contribute to community programs that create opportunities for others.

As someone working in education, I believe that learning can open doors and change lives.

And I would love to be in a position where I could help open some of those doors for other people.

Of course, I know I cannot solve every problem in the world.

But if I could make life a little easier for even a few people, that would already mean something to me.

I don’t want wealth to be measured only by how much money I have in my bank account.

I want it to be reflected in the opportunities I can create, the people I can support, and the positive impact I can leave behind.

Because what is the point of having so much if we cannot use some of it to make life better for others?

Maybe What I Really Want Is Freedom

The more I think about my billion-dollar dream, the more I realize that it isn’t really about the number.

It’s about what that money represents.

Security.

Independence.

Opportunity.

Peace of mind.

And freedom.

The freedom to travel without constantly worrying about expenses.

The freedom to have a home of my own.

The freedom to face unexpected situations without immediately panicking about money.

The freedom to create a place where my family and community can celebrate art and culture.

The freedom to help someone without having to worry about whether I can afford to do so.

And perhaps, most importantly, the freedom to build a life that doesn’t depend entirely on someone else’s decisions.

I’ve spent enough time thinking about things I cannot control.

Other people’s feelings.

Other people’s promises.

Other people’s choices.

But my own future?

That’s something I can actively work toward.

From Heartbreak to Financial Goals

Isn’t it interesting how sadness can sometimes make us rethink our priorities?

One moment, you’re wondering why someone hasn’t called.

The next moment, you’re dreaming about buying a house, building your savings, traveling around the world, opening an art studio, and helping people who need it.

Haha. Life really does have a strange sense of humor.

But perhaps there’s something meaningful behind this sudden shift in perspective.

Maybe I’m beginning to understand that while relationships are important, I also need to invest in myself.

In my career.

In my education.

In my financial future.

In my family.

In my community.

And in the things that bring me happiness.

I’m grateful for the people who have supported and encouraged me throughout my journey. Some have influenced important decisions in my life, including my career in education.

But ultimately, I’m the one who has to live my life and build my future.

And I want that future to be beautiful, meaningful, and financially secure.

A Billion Dollars Won’t Happen Overnight

Of course, I know that becoming a billionaire isn’t exactly an easy task.

If it were, we’d probably all be billionaires by now!

Haha.

But every big dream has to start somewhere.

I’m currently working as a lecturer, and I know there are opportunities for me to continue growing professionally.

Perhaps I can pursue further education, develop additional sources of income, write more consistently, or explore opportunities that align with my interests and abilities.

Maybe this blog will eventually become part of that journey, too.

Who knows what the future holds?

I don’t know whether I’ll ever have a billion dollars in my bank account. But I do know that I can start working toward a more financially secure life.

One small step.

One financial decision.

One opportunity at a time.

And hopefully, one day, I’ll look at how far I’ve come and smile.

Not because money has solved every problem in my life, but because I’ve worked hard to create more choices for myself.

Dear Future Me, I Hope You’re Proud

I hope that one day, when I read this article again, I’ll be sitting comfortably in my own home.

Maybe there will be a cup of coffee beside me, a healthy savings account, and a plane ticket waiting for my next adventure.

Perhaps my father will be spending his afternoons at the art studio I’ve always dreamed of building for him and our family.

Maybe children from the neighborhood will be learning something new there, surrounded by creativity, laughter, and people who believe in their potential.

And perhaps somewhere, someone will have a better opportunity in life because I was fortunate enough to help.

I hope I’ll remember the woman who wrote this article on a morning when her heart felt a little heavy.

A woman who was still figuring out love, life, and her future.

A woman who sometimes felt disappointed but still had the courage to dream.

And I hope I’ll be proud of her.

Because she didn’t give up on herself.

She kept working, learning, growing, and believing that better days were possible.

I still want love. I still want meaningful relationships. But I also want a home of my own, financial security, a passport full of beautiful memories, an art studio where my father and family can share their passion with the community, and the ability to help people who need it.

And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting all of those things.

Maybe one billion dollars sounds like an impossible dream.

But when I think about all the things I could do with it, I realize that my dream isn’t simply about becoming wealthy.

It’s about building a life I love, taking care of the people I love, and hopefully making the world a little better for someone else.

So, dear Universe…

One billion dollars, please.

I promise I have plans for every dollar!

And if one billion is a little too much to ask for right now, perhaps we can start with the first million.

Haha!
