If you are around Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio in Kuningan, especially across from Mall Ambassador, you don’t always have to look for food inside a shopping mall. Along the street, you can find plenty of simple and affordable street food, including one of my favorites: sempol ayam.
Sempol ayam is a popular Indonesian street snack made from a savory chicken mixture, shaped around a bamboo skewer, and then fried until golden brown. It is usually enjoyed with chili sauce or other dipping sauces.

A Simple but Delicious Street Snack
What caught my attention was the colorful green food cart with a large sign that says “Sempol Ayam Cilor Goreng.” The cart serves freshly fried sempol ayam and cilor, another popular Indonesian street snack.
The sempol ayam is crispy and golden on the outside, while the inside has a soft and savory texture. Served hot and dipped in spicy sauce, it makes a simple but satisfying snack.
Affordable Street Food in the Middle of Kuningan
One of the best things about street food is that you can enjoy something tasty without spending too much money.
Kuningan is well known as a busy business district with office buildings, shopping malls, and restaurants. But around the area, you can still find small food carts offering affordable local snacks.
For office workers, commuters, or anyone looking for a quick bite, sempol ayam can be a great choice for an afternoon snack.
Sempol Ayam and Cilor Goreng
Besides sempol ayam, this particular cart also offers cilor goreng. Cilor is another Indonesian snack made from aci (tapioca starch) and often combined with egg before being fried.
Having both sempol ayam and cilor available makes this little street food cart even more interesting. You can choose your favorite or try both.

Where to Find It
You can find this type of street food around Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio, Kuningan, Jakarta, across from or around the Mall Ambassador area.
If you are in Kuningan and looking for something inexpensive, local, and easy to eat while walking, keep an eye out for the colorful street food carts along the road.
Sometimes, the best food experiences don’t have to come from fancy restaurants. A simple plate of freshly fried sempol ayam from a street food cart can be just as satisfying
